Free Food Distribution (Dry Rashan) Project

Usmania Cooked Meal Program ? Honoring Labour with Dignity Since the early 1980s, Muhammad Saif Ullah Khan (Khan Shb) has led numerous construction and development projects across Gujrat. From the very beginning of his work in 1982, Khan Shb distinguished himself not only for his leadership but also for his deep compassion for the labor force. Whether managing wages, ensuring safety, or arranging medical support and food, he consistently treated laborers with the same care as family. Remarkably, with the blessings of Allah, no hazardous incident has ever been reported under his supervision?a testament to his dedication to both human dignity and workplace safety.
This commitment to labor welfare evolved into something even more meaningful in 2017?2018, during the construction of Jamia Usmania Madina tul Islam on Link Shadiwal?Railway Road. As laborers arrived from various cities to work on the project, they were temporarily housed in rented accommodation near the site. Observing their daily struggles to provide basic food for themselves and their families, Khan Shb was deeply moved. He recognized a broader need?not just at his site but across the community.

From this reflection, the idea of serving fresh, cooked meals to daily wage earners and laborers was born. On the advice of Qari Farman Ali, two retired and respected individuals, Mr. Bao Muhammad Idrees and Mr. Raja Muhammad Anwar, were invited to support the initiative. Both enthusiastically embraced the vision and volunteered their time and energy.

The program was launched humbly in Usmania Masjid, starting with Thursday evenings after Maghrib prayer. Mr. Idrees and Mr. Anwar would spend the week collecting dry rations and then have a professional chef prepare the food, which was respectfully served to 30?40 individuals, including children. The meals were distributed with discipline, hospitality, and utmost respect, ensuring no one?s dignity was ever compromised.

Word quickly spread?not just about the taste and quality of the food, but about the atmosphere of respect and care. Soon, people from diverse backgrounds, professions, and areas began joining. Today, over 500 individuals are served regularly, and the program operates five days a week:

  • Sunday, Monday, Wednesday after Fajr prayer
  • Tuesday and Thursday after Maghrib prayer

This operation is now managed by Mr. Raja Muhammad Anwar and a dedicated team of volunteers, who handle the entire process with responsibility and devotion.

In July 2022, Usmania Welfare Society suffered a great loss when Mr. Bao Muhammad Idrees passed away. He was a pillar of sincerity, love, and service?always ready to help, always working without recognition. May Allah grant him the highest rank in Jannah, illuminate his grave, and reward his efforts in the Hereafter. His contributions will forever remain a source of inspiration and pride for the Usmania family.
